We are now accepting enrolment in our Parents as Teachers program.  Marlene Shepheard, a certified PAT educator, will share proven neuroscience research, conduct activities with the parents and child that will enhance all areas of development.  Families with children 0-6 years may call the office to enroll for weekly, bi-weekly or monthly visits.

*Self-Employment Opportunity*
We are in urgent need of home child care providers in Osgoode, North Gower and Manotick.

This is a licensed child care service with the Ministry of Community of Social Services and Ministry of Children and Youth Services. We provide support for safe, quality childcare in the homes of carefully selected providers.
We service areas in and around Osgoode and Rideau Wards in the City of Ottawa.

We provide ongoing support to all our providers:
• equipment lending
• toy lending
• craft supplies
• opportunities for training through workshops and info sessions.

We provide ongoing assistance to parents
of children needing care:

• attend and set up interviews with prospective providers.
• monthly visits and safety checks every 3 months.
• screened providers are required to have a police records check and an acceptable medical certificate.
• alternate care when needed.
• opportunities to attend parenting workshops.
• child care tax receipts.
• ongoing support and advice with behaviour issues, nutrition concerns, toilet learning ideas, communication skills and safety concerns.

The Metcalfe Home Day Care Agency is fortunate to be a member of PAT-Ottawa.  Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a 3-year pilot project and is available to familes who are expecting, have newborns or children up to 3 years of age.  PAT is a strength-based program designed to enhance and promote all areas of learning including language, intellectual, social and motor development.

We have a certified Parent Educator on staff who, through regular in-home visits, shares proven neuroscience research, conducts activities with the parent and child that will enhance all areas of development, and provides ongoing coaching and support.  Participation is voluntary.  For more information on PAT, go to www.ParentsAsTeachers.org .

Subsidized spaces are available. Please call the office for more information and rates! A parent and a provider package are available.
